Official notice

Yeah, I said it.  This is an official notice that the very best songs to get your groove on are from the early 80's.  Not only are these songs the ones that really make you get your grove on, the singers did it with clothes on and not only 4 different layered tops but 50 bangles on each arm, big necklaces (rappers stole that look from 80's girls) and possibly a bow in your hair.  Get over it and get moving.
Today I played the "Don't look and pull out a CD and you have to play it, even if you don't like it" game. What I pulled out was Lisa Stansfield - Affection...ugh oh...it's from 1989...okay, not just the early 80's ... ALL the 80's.  The song All Around the World is such a great song to dance around to,  it makes you purse your lips and look over your shoulder and say "WHAT?" all agitated ... all bitchy... Awesome!!! TURN IT UP!!  I did too much lying,  wasted too much time, now I'm here and cryin...ayayya ayayyaaa ayayya...(that's my favorite part....ayaahyaaaa) You can't not like listening to that song.  No, you can't.
This has prompted me to make a play list for my ipod of good dance around songs.  I'm guessing that you have a few you'd like to share... Here's what I've got so far:
1. Lisa Stansfield - All Around the World
2. Madonna - Into the Groove
3. Kiki Dee - I got the music in me (uh oh that's the 70's)
4. Brownstone - If you love me (uh oh that's the 90's)
5.Sly and the Family Stone - If you want me to stay (uh oh again)

IT IS NOW TIME THAT I CHANGE THE OFFICIAL NOTICE AND STATE THAT ANY SONG, FROM ANY GENERATION, THAT MOVES YOUR GROOVES ARE NECESSARY AND IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YEAR THEY CAME OUT!

6. Smash Mouth - Walkin on the Sun
7. Gap Band - You dropped a bomb on me
8. Michael Jackson - Billie Jean
9.Squeeze - Tempted

So that's a great start. I do have a small warning... today while I was dancing around the dining room, I put both arms up in the air and my pants fell straight to the floor.  While this could have been a completely embarrassing moment, it turned into a completely klutz moment as I fell down on to the dining room chair and table, really giving it all I had. So make sure that when you're getting your grove on...you've secured your bottom layer...for the love!   I'd love to hear your ideas for my play list.  What do you listen to to get you moving? C'mon...let's hear it!
I await your replies with bated breath...

Peace out my groovers

Oh I love love love this blog post! I have so many songs that I can't help but dance to while I'm listening to my ipod doing the dishes. Really makes chores more fun. I don't play the pick a cd game but I put my ipod on shuffle so it's like listening to the radio except it's only songs you like and no commercials. Billie Jean is definitely a good one.
Almost anything by Jamie Lidell--if you haven't heard him, he's worth checking out. I think you would like him
Spice girls "Spice up your Life"
Red Hot Chili Peppers "Make you Feel Better"
Dee Lite "Groove is in the Heart"
Earth, Wind & Fire "September"
Jamiroquai "Canned Heat"
O-Zone "Numa Numa"
White Town "Your Woman"
Nikka Costa "Like a Feather"
Just to name a few :)
